1. Taking too many freaking pictures
2. Focus issues
The Cyclist, always supportive, says we will practice this weekend at the Suisun Harbor Crit. So hopefully my pictures will be continuing to improve.
OK, moving on! Race #1 of last weekend was the Strawberry Crown Criterium in Watsonville, CA. We were thrilled to watch the outside temp drop significantly as we headed over the mountains.
Happy little lettuce field...
...this mural was along the race course...
...there were actually quite a few of these painted on buildings around town.
The race was held during the Strawberry festival...
...did you expect that picture to be a strawberry? So did I.
Now, in all honesty, I did not walk through the whole festival.
But, I did walk around quite a bit. This is the only strawberry I saw...
...seriously.
Well, I also saw a lady dressed as a strawberry, but I was too busy looking for a bathroom to take a picture.
Moving on!
There was a panaderia on the course! Of course I had to partake...
...2 bucks! Those cookies in the left hand corner were the best of the three.
My bakery trip didn't prevent me from making it to the start on time...
...and they're off!
...I walked the course to check out the sites...
...old Martinelli's Cider factory...
...bird of paradise...
...funky knobby tree (that is the scientific name)...
...this was an exciting race to watch, with some good corners...
...I'm told this announcer does major races...
...everybody on Saturday was an "Assassin!" :) ...
...here is our Tour De Nez winner Daniel Ramsey again...
Woot-Woot Fremont Bank!
Ouch, a crash!
And getting to the sprint for the finish....
...and the winner is...
...Steve Reaney!
His team...
...sponsored the race, so that's cool.
Finally! At the end of the day, The Cyclist wound up in the $$ and got a tub of Cal Giant strawberries.
YUM!
Hi TCW,
ReplyDeleteEnjoying the blog! This is a great set of photos-- they're colorful and a good sampling of the flavor of the area. Good action captures too. Note: IMHO, you can't take "too many freaking pictures" since you're not one of those folks who sits in one spot and holds down the shutter button. Keep it up!
Cheers,
Jeff
Thanks for the input and encouragement!
