A Random List of Things

1.  The Cyclist hates wedges of all kinds.  I showed him these and he said "eww".  What say you?  I accept the fact that I am not the best shoe (or clothing) picker outer and The Cyclist does a much better job of picking stuff for me.....but I still think these are cute.

2.  We got evacuated from work yesterday.  It was not as fun as fire drills when I was a kid.  It was hot and I wished I had grabbed a bottle of water before I left.  Plus my duffle bag purse weighs 500 lbs.

3.  Having my feedburner burn out was not cool.  I'm kind of impressed with myself that I was able to fix it.

4.  Is anyone else as irritated as I am with this Text Enhance garbage?  It makes it look like stuff on web-pages is linked but it's really just an ad.  I keep trying to opt out and I can't get rid of it, it just tells me "you have not been opted out".  Of course their help desk won't respond.  Urgh.

5.  I have a nifty picture only post I'm preparing for you all on Moodboard, but I keep forgetting to take a picture of a banana in a glass of water.  Yeah.  More on that later.

6.  After telling me the shoes in #1 were "eww" The Cyclist then said he wanted these...

....um seriously?  He even prefaced the subject line with "Boom!!".  I think he's been eating too many of those crack...ers.

7.  The Cyclist and I recently became attached to this awesomely good series we found on Netflix called The Killing.  We watched 3 episodes the first night and only stopped because we both fell asleep.  Hey 11pm is the late night when you pass 30.  Just sayin'.

8.  Speaking of being past 30, apparently two and a half margaritas now results in stupid behavior, sickness and an entire day of feeling like garbage.  For both of us.

9.  Speaking of spending an entire day feeling like garbage, I was forced (what?!) to skip my long run on Sunday.  Which meant I had to do the run in my three least favorite conditions: on Monday, after work and in the heat (90+).  I succeeded!  8 miles!

10.  Speaking of running, a bunch of us ladies are doing this race on Saturday, in which my Mom will most likely totally kick my butt, which is really all kinds of cool.

Super Training Update

OK. Some of you may have noted that for awhile I was doing training updates, then kind of just...well...stopped. To be honest I was tired of posting things saying, "I think I'll do this..." and then not doing it. Then saying, "I'm going to do this instead..." and then not doing it (again). Fail.

Additionally, I was tired of feeling more like this:
than this:
vertical line
So, I did this:

Run To Feed The Hungry

I would like to have shared photos, especially because this race is huge - over 27,000 people this year - and the start is really cool.  All you can see ahead of you is a massive sea of bodies.  It stays that way for most of the race too.
But alas.  It was raining.  I was sick.  I made it to the start line 3 minutes before the gun.
And most importantly, I was afraid of dropping my iPhone and getting trampled.
So.  No photos.

I also did this:

It was a beautiful day and we had a great time.
The Cyclist RAN (wow)!
We hope to do it again next year.

I will also be doing this:

F.I.T. - Focused INDIVIDUALIZED TRAINING

as well as this:

So here is the deal. There will be no more of me saying "I think I'll do this...". I already completed Run To Feed The Hungry and the California International Marathon - Relay. And, I am officially registered for FIT and the Shamrock'n 1/2 Marathon. It's a good thing too, because Shamrock filled up fast this year!!
I have been training since mid-October, although I slowed down a bit around the holiday's (you know, that whole buried by Christmas thing...)
...needless to say, I'm starting to feel a little more like this again:
...but that's OK (for now).

FIT training starts tonight. I will embarrassingly admit on this blog that when the Coach asked me to give him my training schedule for last week I had to preface it by saying *Results Not Typical. Which is TRUE! But seriously, I'm sure the Coach was a little nervous after he got this back....

Your hard workouts for the week: None
How did you feel (mentally) about the workouts completed: Not good.
Total Mileage for the week: 4 running, 7 walking
How many days did you run this week: 1
Cross training completed this week: Ab/lunge work-out (1), 4 mile walk, 3 mile walk
How are you feeling physically: Like I need to drop some pounds and get back to a more frequent routine.
Races this week (details): PR? Splits? Age Group placing? None
What is your next race? Shamrock

Hey! Last week was super busy alright?!

Anyway, I am happy that I can now do real training updates instead of half-arsed ones, considering I'm actually doing something. And, I'm just happy to be feeling fit and getting "the fever". Once you start on a solid exercise regimen the fever will get you. Just sayin'.

Last, I hope I can finally figure out how to get a good race photo this year at Shamrock darn it! Seriously, this is what happens to me every time (and gets caught on film)...

More to come!

Boo-Hoo

I'm supposed to be running a half marathon next Saturday. It is to be my second in six weeks.

I screwed up by taking a week off after the last race and then the weather turned yucky......and I got lazy. But I signed up anyway knowing the goal would get me back into training mode.

Unfortunately while my brain says "go, go, go", my body is saying "no, no, no". Today it is my knee.

This, mind you, is all a result of my absolutely terrible stretching habits. So my advice to all of you athlete's out there is to STRETCH! All the time. Or you will be subject to whining in a boo-hoo post just like me.

Pray for me people. I really want to do this race. Print Friendly and PDF
